“After Midnight,” the critically acclaimed musical revue built around the music of Duke Ellington as performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars, has announced it will close June 29.

Although the revue won the Tony Award for Best Choreography along with several other prestigious awards this season, producers ultimately determined that without sought-after wage concessions from the unions, box office revenue would not be enough to sustain the show into the summer.

As of now, that means that the final star in the ever-changing list of “names” leading the cast will be Patti LaBelle. Other stars who had starred in the show included Fantasia, k.d. lang, Vanessa Williams, Babyface and Toni Braxton. The shortened run means that audiences will not see two stars who had been announced for month-long runs this summer  – Gladys Knight and Natalie Cole.

Dance stars had also played a major role in the Cotton Club-styled revue including Dule Hill, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and Karine Plantadit.
